Introduction to Nugget hop
Hallertau hops are a family of German hops, with the most famous being Hallertau Mittelfrüh, a classic noble hop known for its mild, balanced flavor and smooth bitterness, traditionally used in lagers and pilsners. Other varieties include Hallertau Tradition, which also offers a balanced floral, herbal, and spicy profile, and Hallertau Blanc, a newer, aromatic hop with fruity, white wine-like notes of pineapple, gooseberry, and passion fruit, often used in modern craft ales and IPAs. A New Zealand-bred version, known as Hallertau (NZ), also exists and features a distinct lime flavor alongside its floral notes.
